The following cases were handled in Knox County Superior Court from Feb. 22 to Feb. 26.

Richard M. Leppanen, 34, of Union pleaded guilty on Feb. 22 to two counts of gross sexual assault, 10 counts of unlawful sexual contact and two counts of unlawful sexual contact. The offenses occurred from May through December 2008 in Union and involved a child younger than 12 years old.

Leppanen was ordered held without bail pending his sentencing, which has yet to be scheduled. A presentence report will be compiled by the probation office prior to sentencing.

Other cases included:

Dwayne Lee Ames, 47, of Rockport, terrorizing and violating a condition of release on June 19 in Cushing, seven days in jail.

Russell Brackett, 51, of Rockland, unlawful trafficking in drugs on Feb. 14, 2008 in Rockland, five years in jail with all but 10 months suspended, stayed until March 26. Brackett was also fined $400 and placed on probation for two years.

Evan I. Laine, 18, of Waldoboro, driving to endanger, dismissed.

Bruce E. Melanson, 58, of Hope, unlawful trafficking in drugs on Aug. 17 in Hope, two years and six months in jail with all but nine months suspended, $1,000 fine and two years of probation. A charge of unlawful possession of oxycodone was dismissed.

Kevin W. Nelson, 22, of Warren, burglary on May 21 in Warren, two years in jail with all but 45 days suspended, two years of probation and restitution of $2,355. He was given concurrent 30-day jail sentences for theft and criminal mischief on the same day in Warren.
