A fire on an oil delivery truck was quickly extinguished Thursday afternoon but it led to a brief closure of Waldo Avenue in Rockland.

There were no injuries and the fire was put out by the driver of the Maritime Energy truck with an extinguisher before fire crews arrived.

Rockland police blocked off the road from the intersection of Camden Street to the intersection of Glen Street for about a half hour. The call came in about 12:30 p.m.

Assistant Rockland Fire Chief Mikial Mazzeo said something apparently overheated, perhaps something electrical. The truck driver noticed a glow under the vehicle but saw no open flames. After he used the fire extinguisher the glow was gone.

The truck was towed from the scene.
