On Friday, March 5, the Velvet Lounge welcomes back The Loney’s, the dynamic duo of Kat Logan and Jim Loney of Friendship. They will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rock City Books & Coffee, 328 Main St., Rockland.

The Loney’s have been playing together for more a decade. They bring a special energy connected to the heart of folk music in Maine with a sound that is distinctive and harmonies that are beautiful.

Singer/songwriter Logan contributed an arrangement of “The Faded Roses of December” to the Grammy Award nominated album “Singing Through The Hard Times — A Tribute to Utah Phillips.” The two-CD set is available from Timberhead Music by calling 236-2707 or visiting timberheadmusic.com, as well as from Ani DiFranco’s Web site, righteousbabe.com.

As usual, there is no cover for the Velvet Lounge series but tips for the musicians are highly encouraged. Seating is limited, so come in early to guarantee a seat. For more information on this and other events happening at Rock City, call 594-4123 or visit the Rock City Coffee page on Facebook.
