A 50-foot shrimp boat was adrift early Wednesday afternoon but the Coast Guard responded to assist the vessel located off Tenants Harbor.

The Miss Tamara and its crew of two were drifting slowly after a problem with a shaft that prevented the vessel from using its motor, said Rockland Coast Guard Station Commander Curtis Barthel. The vessel was drifting toward Metinic Island, located about six miles off Tenants Harbor.

The shrimp boat is owned by Chicote Bay Seafoods.

The Coast Guard arrived to assist the vessel around 12:30 p.m. The Coast Guard’s motor life boat then towed the fishing vessel to Port Clyde.
