An Aktion Club was formed last month by the Kiwanis Club of Rockland with the support of Coastal Opportunities. The club will give citizens living with disabilities an opportunity to develop leadership skills by actively participating in community service projects.

On Wednesday, March 3 members of the newly formed Aktion Club of MidCoast Maine will hold their first meeting since its formation. The meeting will be held at the Stella Maris Home on Broadway in Rockland at 6 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to sign up charter members and select the officers of the club. The group will also work on the calendar for the year. Membership is open to any person with a disability who is over the age of 18 and would like to serve his or her community. The cost of membership is $5 per year.

Kiwanis said those living with a disability are invited to become part of the exciting new Aktion Club, where development has no disability.
