Through the generosity of Camden National Bank, hundreds of Camden Hills Regional High School students will have the opportunity to watch, for free and in person, the Windjammers play for a state Class B basketball championship on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Bangor Auditorium.

CNB is giving away 300 free tickets to Camden Hills students to the game against Falmouth, which begins at 9 p.m.

“We really hope that all 300 tickets are used and there’s a good turnout to support the team up in Bangor this Friday,” said Chance Farago, public relations officer for Camden National Corporation.

Farago said the idea for the free tickets came from Bre Laughlin, the bank’s marketing assistant. She graduated from Camden Hills in 2001, the first class to graduate from the new building. “She wanted to encourage kids to go to the game, remembering that sometimes kids just couldn’t make it,” Farago said.

“There were never free tickets to go to championships when I went to Camden Hills,” Laughlin said. “I just wanted to be sure that the team would be surrounded by fans — and maybe the support will help them come back with [the gold ball].”

Camden Hills students may pick up one ticket each, while supplies last, at the CNB main office in downtown Camden on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, Feb. 24-26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The school also is coordinating student fan buses to the game in Bangor.
