Volunteers are needed to take part in a door-to-door neighborhood campaign to stimulate the weatherization of residential homes.

Maine Partners for Cool Communities will train multi-age teams of local volunteers to do outreach in Rockland and Camden and several other Maine communities, distributing information about Efficiency Maine’s new weatherization program, energy efficiency measures and other available resources to householders.

Trainings will take place in April, and the Green Sneakers volunteers will canvass neighborhoods Saturday, May 8. The goal is to help residents save money on fuel, reduce cumulative energy use, and promote energy security, cleaner airĀ and the reduction of the aggregate carbon footprint.

Those that are interested in volunteering can call 236-8732 or e-mail beedyparker@gwi.net.

The Green Sneakers Project is organized by Maine Partners for Cool Communities, a collaboration of the American Lung Association, Physicians for Social Responsibility-Maine, Maine Council of Churches, Sierra Club-Maine Chapter and Maine Energy Investment Corp.
