Local poet Dave Morrison will read new work and sign copies of his new poetry collection Friday, Feb. 26 at the Owl & Turtle Bookshop, 32 Washington St., starting at 6:30 p.m. “Black Boat Black Water Black Sand” is his fifth book of poetry and is published by Moon Pie Press.

“All are welcome,” Morrison said, “especially those who don’t like poetry.”

Morrison loves his characters — their quirks and clutter, their errors and longings — and he follows them into their houses, their laboratories, their two-bit convenience-store jobs, said fellow poet Dawn Potter. Maine author Ted Bookey agreed, saying “Morrison crafts tall poetry with an XL talent, poems that show the assessing gaze of an expert looker.”
