Jarvis “Jerry” Ernest Dalzell, 68, of Camden died Feb. 9, 2010, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Camden on June 10, 1941, he was the son of Gerald G. and Dorothy (Walsh) Dalzell. He was a 1959 graduate of Camden High School. In the 1970s he attended the School of Surgical Technology at Maine Medical Center and worked at Penobscot Bay Medical Center for 20 years. Jerry was employed at Nautica in Rockland for 10 years until the company closed.

During his retirement, he very much enjoyed fishing, hunting and trips to Prince Edward Island to visit family. Jerry loved being outside as he had a great appreciation of nature. He became an avid gardener, growing fruits, vegetables and flowers for others to enjoy. His quick and dry sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew him.

During his illness, Jerry and his family very much appreciated the kind and compassionate care he received at the Cancer Care Center at Penobscot Bay Medical Center.

He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his sister, Susan Morse; his niece, Melody Knuth; and his great-niece, Lauren Knuth.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Cemetery in New Bedford, Mass.
