Donna L. Drinkwater, 73, died peacefully following a brief illness Feb. 6, 2010, at her home.

Born in Thomaston on June 1, 1936, she was the daughter of Philip and Madolyn Harriman Edmands. Donna attended Thomaston and Rockland schools.

For many years Donna worked for local restaurants, including the Paramount. She also worked for a short time in the housekeeping department of the Samoset Resort.

Donna is remembered by her family as a caring person. She worked for several area families as a personal caregiver.

Over the years Donna had many cats, all of whom she considered her “babies.” One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her son. Her family said he was her whole life.

Donna was predeceased by her son, Philip R. Mank in December 2009.

She is survived by her cousins, Barbara Nelson of Warren, who she thought of as a sister, and Judy Micue of Thomaston and Adreane Winchenbach of Rockland; her close friends, Dexter Nelson of Nobleboro and James Brannan of Rockland; her former husband, Arnold Drinkwater of South Thomaston; and many nieces and nephews, including Debbi Benner of Warren with whom she was very close.

At Donna’s request, no services are planned at this time. A graveside committal service will be announced in the spring.

Those who wish may make memorial donations to the cancer society of one’s choice or the Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, ME.

Arrangements are with the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland.
