The death of 19-year-old Ian Sanborn of Waldoboro was ruled an accidental drowning, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Feb. 12.

Sanborn was reportedly clamming with a friend on the early morning of July 24, 2009. Sanborn reportedly told a friend he wanted to rest before leaving the area.

Sanborn was reported missing on July 25 at noon. Four hours later, Sanborn was located by a Maine Marine Patrol pilot a short distance from where he was clamming with his friend, in an area off Gross Neck Road in Broad Cove that is called Bug-Tussle.
