The Skating Club of Maine will host two days of hockey skills clinics during the upcoming February school vacation week at the Midcoast Recreation Center.

The clinics is open to skaters ages 4 and older and will help the hockey skater improve their overall skating skills and learn to use their blades to generate power. The skills covered, based on the group at hand, will range from the forward stride, stopping (various methods), turning, backwards skating, crossovers, down-and-up motions and various
balance techniques.

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the group will hold a one-hour skills clinic from 2:10 to 3:10 p.m. followed by an optional 20-minute power stroking class from 3:10 to 3:30 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 19, a 40-minute class will run from 2:50 to 3:30 p.m., followed by an optional power stroking class from 3:30 to 3:50 p.m.

Helmets are required and participants must supply their own, but no other hockey gear will be allowed. Participants should wear comfortable clothing.

The clinics are $50 and $35 respectively and the stroking classes are $10 each. If the skater enrolls in both clinics, without the stroking class, the price is $75. A $90 fee will allow a participant to enroll in both skating clinics as well as both stroking classes. Informational flyers are available at the rink.

Early registration is suggested due to limited class sizes. Parents must sign a waiver prior to the class.
