The Midcoast Women’s Ice Hockey League is going strong this winter as the group played a bundle of recent games at the Midcoast Recreation Center.

On Jan. 31, Maine Sport lost by a goal to Team Blue. Michelle Gallant’s two consecutive goals led Team Blue-Recreation to a 3-2 win over Maine Sport. Also scoring for Team Blue was Stacey Palmer. Scoring for Maine Sport was Gallant’s son, Austin, and Barbara Jean O’Brien.

First-year skater Katy Morrison added a surprise goal to the Snapshots 5-1 win over Team Blue-Intermediate. Also scoring for the Snapshots, sponsored by Fenn Fotographics, were Katie Lebel with two goals and Austin Gallant and Sue Akers both one. Scoring for Team Blue was O’Brien.

OnĀ  Feb 7, Maine Sport beat Team Blue-Recreation 5-2. Akers scored two goals to lead Maine Sport. Also scoring for Maine Sport were Pauline Wilder, Libby Schrum and Kim Fenn. Scoring for Team Blue-Rec were Andrea Garver and Anne Williams.

The same day, Team Blue-Intermediate bested Fenn Fotographics 6-4, as Heather Wyman dominated with a hat trick. Also scoring for Team Blue were Devri Byrom with two goals and Wilder one. Scoring for Fenn Fotographics were Cheryl Levin with two goals and Fenn and Garver both one.

On Feb 14, Maine Sport beat Team Blue-Recreation 4-3, as Garver netted three goals and Libby Schrum one. Scoring for Team Blue were Byrom with two goals and Eliza Haselton one.

Also, Team Blue-Intermediate beat Fenn Fotographics 8-7, as Heather Wyman dominated with four goals. Also scoring for Team Blue were Susan McBride with two goals, Haselton one and Byrom one. Scoring for the Snapshots were LeBel with three goals, Matt Czuchra two (he is Deb Czuchra’s son) and Tamara Kennard and Garver both one.

The women’s hockey season runs through Sunday, March 21. New members are welcome. Loaner equipment is available, but limited, so potential new players are encouraged to call ahead.
