The board of directors of Damariscotta Bank & Trust Co. recently announced the appointment of Scott Conant as president and CEO.

“Scott brings many years of experience to the office as well as an understanding of the important role community banks play in the communities they serve,” said Chester Rice, chairman of the board of the bank, in a news release.

Conant was also appointed president of the bank’s holding company, Damariscotta Bankshares Inc. He replaces Tom Finn who, after nearly 25 years of service at Damariscotta Bank & Trust, retired at the end of January.

Conant joined the bank in 1993 and most recently served as the senior vice president and treasurer. He has spent more than 34 years in banking and has had a wide range of responsibilities. He is a graduate of Husson University in Bangor with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and also the banking industry’s National School of Finance and Management located on the campus of Fairfield University.

He has been involved with many organizations during his career, including the Boy Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, the YMCA and the United Way. He is a past member of a variety of service clubs. Scott and his wife, Debbie, live in Damariscotta. They have three grown children.
