The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents a weekly series of films in Room 208 of the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The theme for the Friday night movies in February is romance. The second film of the series, “Waterloo Bridge,” will be screened Friday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

After falling madly in love, ballerina Myra (Vivien Leigh) and British officer Roy (Robert Taylor) unwillingly part ways during World War I. Myra, thinking Roy has been killed in battle and starving, turns to prostitution to survive. She battles shame and struggles to reconnect with Roy when he unexpectedly returns from combat. Based on a play by Robert E. Sherwood, this wartime romance received Academy Award nominations for cinematography and original score.

Admission is free but donations are appreciated. The Academy Building is handicapped accessible via an elevator off the parking lot. For more information, call the library at 354-2453. Doors will open at 6 p.m., when the Hallway Books book shop is open in the hallway of the first floor.
