Young, the island’s fire chief, was originally issued a summons by state police last year for criminal threatening against a fellow lobsterman. State police said Young was upset over comments apparently made by former sternman James Mackie. Young blocked the road when Mackie and another man were approaching in another vehicle, state police said at the time, and the chief got out of the vehicle, carrying a nunchuck, or two sticks connected at their ends with a rope or chain. The allegation was that Young threatened to beat up Mackie, police said.

Young denied the allegation and that was the criminal threatening count that was dismissed.
