In addition, beginning 4 p.m. Feb. 13, Farmers Fare on Route 90 at Cross Street will offer complimentary hot chocolate to promotion participants (coupon required), so that cold, hungry skiers can warm up and get a bite to eat (the kitchen will stay open until 6 p.m.) before the nearby Golden Dragon Chinese Acrobats performance. For the menu, visit farmersfare.com on performance day.

Direct from Hebei and Henan China, the Golden Dragon Chinese Acrobats represent the best of a time-honored tradition that began more than 25 centuries ago. The Golden Dragon Chinese Acrobats troupe features contortionists, tumblers and jugglers who perform such acts as plate-spinning, balancing human pyramids and perching atop a 30-foot tower of chairs. These acts require not only brute strength, but also collective coordination and the 30 members of the Golden Dragon Chinese Acrobats are up to the task: each member is an athlete, actor and artist who has studied and trained for his or her craft since early childhood.

Next in the 2009-2010 Performing Arts Series, Bay Chamber Concerts will present DBR & The New Clef Coalition Sunday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House. Haitian-American artist Daniel Bernard Roumain (aka DBR) is a composer, violinist and bandleader who seamlessly blends funk, rock, hip hop and classical music into an innovative musical experience. Recently featured with Lady Gaga on “American Idol,” he has been described as the hip hop Mozart and “Beethoven meets Lenny Kravitz.” Bay Chamber Concerts has co-commissioned DBR to compose a new symphonic work, which will be performed by members of the Odeon Strings Program and guests as part of this concert. The concert also will conclude Bay Chamber Concerts’ and Wish for Haiti’s fundraising to help rebuild the Port-au-Prince orphanage House of Lack.

Most tickets for either performance are $25; prime seating is $45, discounted up to 44 percent with subscription. A limited number of $8 tickets will be available for youth age 18 and younger.
