The Medomak Valley Peewee wrestling program for pre-kindergarden through fourth graders began its regular season on Jan. 25.

Boys and girls from the Maine School Administrative District 40 are welcome and encouraged to participate. The program will introduce basic skills and techniques. Wrestlers will compete against other wrestlers within the same weight class.

Winning is kept in the proper perspective; however, competition is viewed as a necessary part of the learning process. The program builds stamina, coordination, and general fitness. It also helps develop self-confidence and self-discipline. A free book, Parent’s Guide to Youth Wrestling is available online at: youthwrestlingguide.com

Practices will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Medomak Middle School. Wrestling Fun Nights and tournaments are being scheduled and will be announced at a later date.

There is a $10 registration fee, and there are small fees associated with tournaments.

Questions may be directed to Trevor Readinger at 975-1854, Jed Harris at 832-6045 or Billy Bramhall at 832-7733.
