An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls from Jan. 17 to Jan. 23.

Jan. 17

Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of a domestic incident in Warren. Robert Murray, 28, of Warren was arrested for domestic violence assault.

Deputies Arthur Smith, Doug Brundrett and Detective Sgt. Reginald Walker responded to an agency assist request at the scene of reported gunshots in Rockland.

Deputies Smith and Brundrett responded to an agency assist request at the scene of a male threatening to harm himself in Washington. Maine State Police troopers were able to convince the male to go to Penobscot Bay Medical Center for an evaluation.

Deputy Brundrett arrested Robert Murray, 28, of Warren on a violation of bail charge and transported him to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Jan. 18

Deputy John Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving two vehicles. There was reportable damage to the vehicle with no personal injury noted. The key factor in this crash was the winter road conditions.

Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving two vehicles. There was reportable damage sustained with no personal injury noted. A warning for unsafe backing was issued to the driver at fault.

Deputy Larry Hesseltine responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving two vehicles. There was reportable damage sustained with no personal injury noted.

Jan. 19

Deputy Palmer began a fraudulent documents investigation in South Thomaston. This was deemed a civil matter.

Deputy Elwell assisted the Maine State Police at the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Union. Extra lighting was provided for safety purposes due to the location.

Subsequent to a traffic stop, Deputy Elwell arrested Joshua Nicholls, 26, of Washington on charges of operating after suspension and violating a condition of release. The subject was also charged on an outstanding warrant.

Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle. The operator in this crash misjudged the edge of the roadway due to the snow and subsequently struck a tree. There was reportable damage sustained.

Deputy Brundrett responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head. There was reportable damage sustained.

Deputy Curt Andrick responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Thomaston. There was reportable damage sustained.

Sgt. Michael Sprague responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren with reported personal injury. This crash involved two vehicles, one of which rear ended the other. One operator complained of head pain and was evaluated by Warren Rescue personnel. There was reportable damage sustained.

Deputy Brundrett arrested Miranda Wotton-Thayer, 19, of Rockland on an outstanding warrant.

Jan. 20

Deputy Brundrett arrested Nicholas Baudanza, 19, of Owls Head on an outstanding warrant.

Detective Sgt. Walker arrested Arthur Andrews, 24, of Warren on an outstanding warrant.

Sgt. Jacob Boyington responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving two vehicles. Further details were not available.

Deputies Elwell and Don Murray responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Friendship involving a single vehicle that left the roadway, striking a tree. There was reportable damage sustained and the operator, Ryan Woodcock, 29, of Waldoboro was arrested on charges of operating under the influence and violating a condition of release.

Jan. 21

Deputy Tibbetts responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles. There was reportable damage sustained with no personal injury noted.

Deputy Murray arrested Jeremy Smith, 23, of Warren on an outstanding warrant.

Deputy Elwell began an investigation of harassment in South Thomaston. After all parties involved were spoken to, one person was issued a warning.

Deputies Murray and Elwell responded to Cushing to conduct a bail check on an individual. It was found that the subject was in violation. An arrest warrant has been issued and he will be arrested at a later time.

Jan. 22

Deputy Palmer arrested Devin Davis, 23, of Warren on an outstanding warrant. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy Hesseltine responded to a report of loud music on Vinalhaven. The subject was warned on disorderly conduct.

Deputy Tibbetts responded to a report of trespassing in Owls Head. The male had left prior to the arrival of Tibbetts but was later located and issued a warning.

Jan. 23

Deputy Palmer arrested Michael Crosby, 63, of Cushing on an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy Brundrett arrested Melissa Hilliard, 50, of Tenants Harbor on two outstanding warrants. The subject was taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy Arthur Smith arrested Michael Turner, 34, of St. George on a probation violation. The subject was taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputies Elwell, Murray and Sgt. Boyington responded to a report of a disorderly female in Warren. It was found that the female was extremely intoxicated and needed to go home. Arrangements were made for her to do so.

In total this week, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 204 calls for service. Those calls not listed above involved such things as all-terrain vehicle problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, and nuisance, erratic vehicle and suspicious complaints.
