The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents a weekly series of films in Room 208 of the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The theme for the Friday night movies in February is romance. The first film of the series, “An Affair to Remember,” will be screened Friday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Nicky Ferrante (Cary Grant) and Terry McKay (Deborah Kerr), each already engaged to another, meet on an ocean liner and fall deeply in love. Tempting fate, they agree to meet at the Empire State Building in six months if they still feel the same way, but a tragic accident prevents their rendezvous and the lovers’ future takes an uncertain turn. This poignant and humorous love story was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Music.

Admission is free but donations are appreciated. The Academy Building is handicapped accessible via an elevator off the parking lot. For more information, call the library at 354-2453. Doors will open at 6 p.m., when the Hallway Books book shop is open in the hallway of the first floor.
