The Union Area Chamber of Commerce has started 2010 in a celebratory mood, having reached a much-anticipated milestone — its 100th member.

Blueberry Fields Bed & Breakfast, located at 673 Razorville Road in Washington, will have an official grand opening May 1. Built by its owners, Debbie and Cyd Zeigler, over the course of three years, the bed and breakfast has five guest rooms, each with a private bath, a TV, wireless Internet, and private access to the outdoors.

The Zeiglers spent several years working hard on building their property and were very enthusiastic about joining the Union Area Chamber of Commerce as the 100th member and getting to know other area businesses and community members.

“Moving to Maine and opening our own B&B is truly the fulfillment of a lifelong dream,” said Debbie Zeigler. “My husband has family here and has always loved Maine. After visiting Maine repeatedly with him, I fell in love with it too. Building our B&B and now having our grand opening just a few months away on May 1 is so incredibly exciting.”

Blueberry Fields Bed & Breakfast is a post and beam construction and offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Debbie Zeigler brings years of experience as a professional baker; she’s looking forward to offering a hearty breakfast and home-baked treats to her guests. Located on the edge of a 10-acre blueberry field, guests will enjoy the trails that wind through the woods across brooks and through groves of sugar maples. The Zeiglers are now accepting reservations for the upcoming season and are offering special rates during May and June. For more information call 446-2407 or visit blueberryfieldsbandb.com.

“We welcome the Zeigler’s and their new business to the Union Area Chamber of Commerce,” said Martha Johnston-Nash, president of the chamber of commerce. “We are delighted that our membership continues to increase in spite of a difficult economy and believe some of those reasons might be that our organization provides opportunities for our chamber businesses to participate in joint marketing efforts, business networking and in sponsoring and supporting local community events. Seeing our chamber expand our membership to 100 businesses is extremely gratifying.”
