U.S. Coast Guard Station Rockland reported the following activity.

Jan. 22

At 4:36 a.m. Station Rockland received a report of a 33-foot lobsterboat with two people on board that was aground on Shag Rock, just off Owls Head. At 4:43 a.m. Station Rockland launched its 25-foot response boat with Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Andrew Watkins as the coxswain. At 4:51 a.m. the response boat arrived on the scene, but was unable to pull the lobsterboat off due to how far it was aground and to the Coast Guard salvage policy. At 5:16 a.m. another lobsterboat arrived and the response boat gave that boat an anchor line so it could attempt to pull the boat off the rocks. At 5:22 a.m. the vessel was pulled off the rocks and towed back to Rockland Harbor. Case closed.
