I was glad to hear the President focus on creating jobs and improving the economy, including a commitment to making it easier for small businesses to get access to the money they need to grow and survive and investing in the clean energy jobs that we can create here in Maine.

The president also called on Congress not to give up on health care reform that will lower costs, strengthen Medicare and crack down on the worst practices of the insurance companies. I agree with him and believe that, working together, we will pass the health care reform the American people deserve.

It was also good to hear the president talk about investments in rail because I know he was talking in part about the significant investment in the Downeaster that will allow the extension of rail service to Brunswick and immediately create 200 jobs here in Maine.
