Finnish Congregational Church service

SOUTH THOMASTON — The next worship service at the Finnish Congregational Church will be Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. with a sermon by the Rev. Terence R. Willis titled “Keep Looking.” The soloist is Stephanie Lawler, with Marion Gray at the organ. The service will be followed by a traditional fellowship hour with Finnish foods and coffee. All are welcome.

Public supper at John St. United Methodist Church

CAMDEN — A public supper with baked beans, casseroles, salads and pies will be held at the John St. United Methodist Church (corner of John Street and Simonton Road) in Camden. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children.

Waldoboro United Methodist Women

WALDOBORO — The Waldoboro United Methodist Women will meet Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the church on Friendship Street. Hostesses for the meeting will be Sylvia Harkins and Donna Nash. The group will gather at 1 p.m. and will address valentines for people who are away and the servicemen. Refreshments will be served. All ladies of the church are invited to attend.

Pray for Haiti; give to Haiti

CAMDEN — A special offering will be collected during the Chestnut Street Baptist Church’s Sunday worship time on Jan. 31 to help the earthquake victims in Haiti through Samaritan’s Purse. Checks can be made out to Chestnut Street Baptist with “Haiti” in the memo line.

Sanner’s sermon

CAMDEN — After a week’s absence, the Rev. Dick Sanner will be back in the pulpit at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John St. in Camden. He will preach on “Killing and Caring” during worship, which starts at 10:30 a.m. The chancel choir under the direction of Dan Allen will sing, and Dorothy Koski will play the organ and piano. Child care is available. At 9 a.m., the children will meet in various learning centers to study the story of Abraham and Sarah through cooking, games, art and drama.
