Phyllis A. Johnson Seay, 58, died Jan. 17, 2010, after a brief illness.

She was born June 9, 1951, in Hope. She was the daughter of Elmer and Martha (Hastings) Johnson.

Phyllis grew up in St. George, where she was a graduate of Georges Valley High School Class of 1969. For the past 20 years she resided in Wartburg, Tenn., where she raised her twin granddaughters. Phyllis was also active in the local church; she loved to sew and made many costumes and quilts for her granddaughters. As a child she loved spending time at Clark Island with her family.

She was predeceased by her son, Roy Seay Jr.; her parents, Elmer and Martha Johnson; and a sister, Nancy (Johnson) Louder.

She is survived by her daughter, Candance Welch of Tennessee; her twin granddaughters, Brittany and Amber Welch; three brothers, Howard Hastings of Iowa, Elmer Johnson and his wife, Donna, of Tenants Harbor and Phillip Johnson and his companion Laurie Miller of Rockport; two sisters, Susan Overlock and her husband, Myron, of Warren and Francis Beniot and her husband, Lester, of Concord, N.H.; and a sister-in-law, Alison Johnson of Camden. Phyllis is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
