A Knox County Grand Jury indicted 15 people Jan. 26 on a variety of charges including escape, reckless conduct with a gun, drug violations and thefts.

The grand jury met for two days at the courthouse. An indictment is a way to issue criminal charges. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at a later criminal proceeding.

The indictments include:

Clifford James-William Perkins, 26, for escape, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, burglary of a motor vehicle, burglary, theft, criminal mischief and operating after revocation. He was an inmate at the Bolduc Correctional Center in Warren and is accused of escaping on Nov. 21, 2009, and stealing a vehicle from Friendship Trap Company. He was recaptured two weeks later in Scarborough and sent to the Maine State Prison.

Arthur M. Andrews, 24, of Union, reckless conduct on Nov. 19 in Union involving a gun and three people, operating after revocation on Oct. 24 in Union.

Dana E. Kennedy Jr., 37, of Appleton, forgery and theft from Oct. 6 through Oct. 21 involving the theft of more than $10,000. Kennedy was also indicted for theft by deception and violating a condition of release on Nov. 10 in Union for the theft of fuel and coffee from Maritime Farms.

Joseph A. Weymouth, 38, of Warren, domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, obstructing report of a crime on Jan. 4 in Warren.

Eben J. Kenney, 23, of Rockland, burglary and theft on Nov. 9 in Rockland.

Michael A. Mello Jr., 24, of Hull, Mass., possession of hydrocodone and criminal operating under the influence on Oct. 10 in Rockland.

Marcia L. Davis, 38, of Rockland, theft at Super Shoes in Rockport and violating a condition of release on Oct. 16.

Barry W. Reed, 29, of Friendship, theft of services (fuel) and failure to stop for a police officer on Nov. 23.

Cylie J. Belcher, 19, of Rockland, furnishing hydrocodone on Sept. 26 in Rockport.

Michelle D. Young, 20, of Cushing, criminal OUI, unauthorized use of property, leaving the scene of an accident, operating after suspension, operating beyond license conditions, failure to report an accident, all on Oct. 20 in Rockport.

Joseph B. Bailey, 27, of Rockport, operating after revocation on Oct. 31 in Rockport.

Kyle B. Young, 24, of Lincolnville, criminal OUI, operating beyond license restriction.

Dwayne L. Ames, 47, of Rockland, terrorizing and violating a condition of release on June 19 in Cushing.

Haley D. Jones, 24, of Union, two counts of theft and stealing drugs (Klonopin) on June 3 in Thomaston.

Richard A. Fyfe-Benoit, 23, of Rockland, furnishing liquor to a female under 18 years old, furnishing suboxone on July 10 on Vinalhaven.
