Three of Midcoast Maine’s most popular stage and musical personalities have whipped up a sweet confection for Valentine’s Day weekend. Vocalists Nancy Durgin and John D. Adams and pianist Sean Fleming will be joined by Chuck McGregor on bass and Allen Millet on drums for “Isn’t It Romantic?” The revue will feature love songs from Broadway and beyond, with music by Irving Berlin, Rogers and Hart, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, among others.

This lighthearted musical valentine is a benefit for Heartwood Regional Theater Company and will be presented in two formats: as an evening fundraising gala at the 1812 Farm in Bristol; and as a matinee concert at the Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro. Both events will feature a Valentine’s discounted “two-fer” ticket price for couples.

Durgin is well-known throughout the Midcoast for her dynamic leading roles in “Gypsy,” “Mame,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Nunsense” and many more. ¬†Adams is known for his appearances in theatrical roles with Heartwood, including the title role in “Sweeney Todd,” as well as for his concert and opera performances throughout Maine and New England.

After performing together on several occasions, these stage veterans decided to have some fun and put on their own musical revue, enlisting the help of long-time collaborator Fleming. Fleming is one of the Midcoast’s most popular and sought-after musicians, and his versatile skills ranging from classical to Broadway to jazz are always an audience delight. The opportunity to make the show a fundraiser for Heartwood Regional Theater Company seemed a perfect match.

“Isn’t It Romantic?” will be presented at Bristol’s 1812 Farm Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the gala are $40, $75 per couple. The show also will be performed as a Valentine’s Day matinee concert at the Waldo Theatre Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets for the matinee are $15, $25 per couple.

Reservations are strongly encouraged, especially for the Friday evening gala; contact Heartwood at 563-1373 or
