The Winter 2010 Fine Art, Antique and Jewelry Auction at Thomaston Place Auction Galleries will feature fine art, antique and custom made furniture, Oriental items, coins, firearms, estate jewelry, silver, rare books and ephemera, Native American pieces, vintage lighting, carpets and textiles.

Included in the fine art offering are works by Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro, as well as a watercolor/gouache work by the late Andrew Wyeth of a small house in snow (possibly a Christmas greeting). A highlight will be an extremely rare platinum print photo album including more than 100 images of the American West by Adam Clark Vroman (1856-1916) gathered while he was contracted by the government. This album was bound as part of a series of 16 albums of images and is titled “Pueblos — Taos to Isleta, 1899.”

The galleries are open for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday, Feb. 1 through 5; and between 9 and 11 a.m. on the sale days, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 6 and 7. The auction will begin at 11 a.m. on both sale days.

Five hundred items will be sold per day. A complete four-color catalog with detailed descriptions and photographs is available and all lots can be viewed online at thomastonauction.com. To reserve seats in the auction hall or for more information, call 354-8141.
