An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

The Waldoboro Police Department reported the following activity from Jan. 11 to Jan. 18.

Jan. 11

Officer Jeffery Fuller summoned Michael Drew, 22, of Camden for operating after suspension.

Fuller investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 3:37 p.m. Carrie Groth, 29, of Spruce Head was driving a 1999 Ford station wagon that sustained $1,500 in damage. Leslie Demmons, 62, of Waldoboro was driving a 2001 Suzuki sport utility vehicle that sustained $2,000 in damage. Groth was traveling south and struck Demmons in the driver’s side when Demmons, who was crossing Atlantic Highway from Depot Street, failed to yield the right of way. There were no injuries.

Jan. 12

Officer Michel Dutil is investigating a report that someone damaged a resident’s mailbox.

Dutil is investigating a report that someone broke into a residence and went through things, but it appears nothing is missing.

Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on Union Road at 8:10 p.m. Douglas Knowlton, 19, of Waldoboro was driving a 1995 Ford pickup truck that sustained $3,000 in damage. Knowlton was traveling south on Union Road. He was talking on a cell phone and dropped it. Knowlton looked down to pick up the cell phone and ran off the road, striking a pole. He had some bleeding in his facial/head area. As a result of the accident, Knowlton was charged with operating under the influence and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle (distraction law).

Jan. 13

Officer Sean Kozer arrested Patricia Boyington, 39, of Waldoboro on a warrant.

Bartunek summoned George Bartlett, 35, of Rockland for operating with an expired license.

Bartunek is investigating a report that someone damaged a resident’s mailbox.

Dutil is investigating a report from a resident who is being harassed; both parties were warned on harassment.

Jan. 14

Dutil is investigating a report that a resident’s boat was stolen.

Jan. 15

Fuller investigated an accident on Depot Street at 6 a.m. Alan Smith, 32, of Waldoboro was driving a 2004 Jeep SUV that sustained $900 in damage. A deer ran in front of Smith and struck the front bumper and light. The deer died.

Fuller investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 7:25 a.m. Daniel Sacks, 51, of Palermo was driving a 1996 Mazda pickup truck that sustained $1,500 in damage. Sacks lost control of the vehicle due to road conditions. The Mazda crossed lanes and came to rest in the southbound lane ditch on its roof. There were no injuries.

Fuller investigated an accident on Atlantic Highway at 8 a.m. Henry Berg, 55, of Damariscotta was driving a 2003 Toyota pickup truck that sustained $3,500 in damage. Berg lost control due to road conditions and struck a snowbank, coming to rest in a ditch. Berg complained of pain in his head.

Jan. 16

Fuller summoned Diane Anthony, 40, of Waldoboro for operating after suspension.

Fuller summoned Chad Burns, 20, of Nobleboro for an uninspected motor vehicle.

Jan. 17

Fuller investigated a report that someone stole a resident’s wallet.

Kozer investigated a report from a resident who is being harassed; all subjects were warned on harassment.

Jan. 18

Kozer is investigating a report that someone broke the windshield on a resident’s vehicle while it was parked.

Fuller investigated an accident on Winslow’s Mills Road at 11:47 a.m. Amanda Diaz, 23, of Waldoboro was driving a 2003 Suzuki SUV that sustained $3,000 in damage. Diaz was traveling northbound and lost control due to road conditions. She crossed into the southbound lane and came to rest against a tree. There were no injuries.
