The annual Winterfest Saturday, Jan. 30 will feature live music and refreshments all afternoon, in addition to the popular ice carving contest, outdoor winter activities and indoor crafts for children in and around the downtown Camden Public Library.

The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. Ellsworth-based Stiff Whisker and the Driftwood Kids, who had a CD release concert in late 2008 at the Camden Opera House, will perform two sets on the outdoor stage, 12:15 to 1 p.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m. The acoustic band of musical friends combines folk, rock and much more to create a style they call tribal-folk-funk. The quintet features Matt Robinson, Chris Ross, Nick Hurd and Gabe and Suzanne Wood.

There will be an open mic session in-between, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. From noon to 2 p.m., the striking living sculptures by designer MADgirl Meredith Alex will provide visual counterpoint to the proceedings.

For those who like their music under a roof, there will be music in the library from 1 to 2:30 p.m. including a set by local combo All That Jazz.
