Fred M. Richards Jr., 21, of Denmark, Maine, died unexpectedly Jan. 8, 2010, in North Conway, N.H.

He was born in Rockport on June 20, 1988, a son of Fred Richards Sr. and Tina (Morang) Richards Hansen. During high school he was an active member of the ROTC, attended Fryeburg Academy and graduated from Cony High School in 2008. He was a member of Albion Lodge 149 IOOF. He enjoyed all sports but liked basketball the best. He listened to lots of music and loved going to festivals and concerts. While on Facebook he played FarmVille. His motto was “Live for the day.”

He is survived by his mother, Tina Hansen of Denmark and stepfather Chris of Denmark; a sister, Barbara and a brother, Jens Hansen, both of Denmark; a brother, Tyler Fogg of Rockland; his father, Fred Richards Sr. of Bowling Green, Fla.; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn and Joe Greenwood of Windsor; his maternal grandfather, Howard Morang of Vasselboro; his paternal grandparents, Richard and Janice Brehm of Warren; and several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life was held Jan. 14 at the Wood Funeral Home in Fryeburg. A memorial service was held Jan. 16 at the North Windsor Baptist Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at woodfuneralhome.org.
