The Federated Church in Thomaston/United Church of Christ/United Methodist Church through United Church Services’ One Great Hour of Sharing sent money immediately to missionaries already in Haiti at ground zero to help people in peril.

The Federated Church in Thomaston sends money annually to its Haiti missionaries for sponsored children with continued aid for nutritious food, health care, education and more. The church sponsors a child there now and is working throughout Haiti to help with the cleanup effort, feeding and caring for those in need at this disastrous time.

The church is also working through the United Methodist Committee on Relief to send health kits to those most in need during this disastrous time. A donation of $12 will send kits containing hygienic supplies, soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a face cloth, a small towel and other supplies.

Donated supplies should be brought to the Federated Church in Thomaston on Sunday for packing. A box is there for collection by the Sunday school room in Leach Hall. A special collection plate was passed during church service Jan. 17 to help purchase some needed supplies.

The Federated Church in Thomaston/UCC/UMC is located at 8 Hyler St.; church service is held Sundays at 9 a.m. Sunday school and child care is provided. The church is handicap accessible. For more information call 354-6105.
