The Farnsworth Art Museum will present the episode of the PBS series “Art:21,” which focuses on contemporary visual art and artists in the United States, on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m.

“Art:21” provides fascinating and intimate footage of artists at work as they transform inspiration into art, and grapple with the physical and visual challenges of achieving their artistic vision. The film will be shown in the downtown museum’s auditorium. The theme of the evening’s film will be spirituality.

Featured artists in this second film include Beryl Korot, Ann Hamilton, John Feodorov, Shahzia Sikander and James Turrell. Each artist engages spirituality as a vibrant and integral part of life, and shows how changing times and attitudes have not stifled the powerful partnership between spirituality and art. After the film, moviegoers are encouraged to discuss the ideas and opinions raised by the film at one of Rockland’s many restaurants.

The fee for this film is $5 for members and $8 for nonmembers. Reservations are not required. The next “Art:21” film will be shown Thursday, Feb. 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. The theme of that screening will be identity.
