Beginning Saturday, Jan. 23, the Farnsworth Art Museum will present a six-week class designed to help students access creative energy and unleash their artistic potential. The course, “Creating from the Inside Out” with Erika Manning, will take place Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the museum’s Gamble Education Center on the corner of Union and Grace streets.

Participating students of all abilities and backgrounds will learn how to access a deeper level of their creative selves through techniques designed to help them cultivate a “beginner’s mind,” surrender to the moment, and let go of the ego. Class discussions, exercises and field trips will explore diverse areas including surrealism, meditation, movement, theater, traditional studio arts and yogic philosophy. Students will be encouraged to build on in-class energy with outside work, and to bring classroom ideas and techniques into their daily lives.

Manning is an artist, educator, yoga teacher and polarity therapist. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston and has taught the expressive arts for more than 10 years.

Enrollment for the class is limited to 12 students and the cost is $105 for members and $120 for nonmembers (includes $15 materials fee). To register, call 596-0949 or visit farnsworthmuseum.org/education.
