A rare light day on the high school hardwood Thursday night led to a pair of double-digit losses for two Midcoast Class C girls basketball teams, while Wednesday night saw a local Class C boys squad earn revenge from an early-season loss to a conference rival

The Searsport boys nipped visiting Dexter Wednesday night, while, on Thursday, the Viking girls fell to Dexter and the Georges Valley girls dropped a 10-point decision to host Livermore Falls.

The following is a recap of those three games:

Boys basketball

Searsport 43, Dexter 39 … At Searsport, the host Vikings erased an early first-quarter deficit and rallied for their fourth win of the season with a four-point victory. The Tigers led 7-2 after the first eight minutes, while the Vikings rallied to take an 14-11 halftime edge and a 34-23 advantage after three quarters.

Rocky Faunce keyed Searsport with 16 points, while Shane Seekins added 10; Dillan Moody, James Seekins and Evan Kingsbury, all five; and Buddy Ellis, two.

For Dexter, Nathan Wyman tallied 17 points, while Tim Gustin added 14; Andrew Wing, five; Matt Crance, two; and Ryan Wilks, one.

Searsport (4-8, 5.5556 points) currently is 15th in Eastern Class C, while Washington Academy (10-1, 52.3920 points) is the top team in the region.

Girls basketball

Livermore Falls 44, Georges Valley 34 … At Livermore Falls, the Buccaneers (5-7) mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback, but could not scale the mighty Andies (9-3) and fell by a 10-point margin. Georges Valley trailed 10-5, 22-9 and 37-13 at the quarter breaks, but rallied and outscored Livermore Falls 21-7 in the final eight minutes.

Kennadi Grover dropped in a game-high 19 points for Georges Valley, while Holly Ames-Allan added eight; Rachel Frye, four; Katlyn Rich, two; and Jill Bradbury, one.

For the Andies, Kathryn Ventrella netted 14 points, while Annika Durrell added 12; Marissa Welch, nine; Hannah Therrien, five; and Megan Therrien, four.

Georges Valley shot 17-of 26 (65 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Andies were 11-of-17 (65 percent)

The Bucs (5-7, 13.8889 points) currently are 11th in Western Class C, while the Andies (9-3, 41.3580 points) is the top team in the region.

Dexter 57, Searsport 19 … At Dexter, the host Tigers (7-4) jumped to a large first-quarter lead and mauled the visiting Vikings (1-11) to the tune of a 40-point victory. Dexter led 18-4, 30-10 and 46-15 at the quarter breaks.

Olivia Quigley paced Searsport with 11 points, while Kelli Smith added four and Sara Bradshaw and Meagan Parker both two.

Callie Theodore netted 13 points for Dexter, while Sarah Atwater and Cally Mountain each added 10.

The Vikings (1-11, 0.5556 of a point) currently are 18th in Eastern Class C, while Dexter (7-4, 14.1358 points) is 10th. Woodland (11-1, 43.1392 points) is the top team in the region.
