Hillary Hall of Waldoboro, a Medomak Valley High School graduate, finished second in the high jump, clearing a season-best 5 feet 3 inches to equal her career-best established last January, as one of the highlights for the University of Southern Maine women’s indoor track team’s performance at the Sorlien Invitational meet Jan. 15 at the University of Rhode Island.

The non-team scoring meet featured 17 teams from throughout New England.

Hall also placed fifth in the high jump to highlight USM’s women’s efforts Jan. 10 at the 41st Dartmouth College Relays at the Leverone Field House.

Hall, a junior, cleared 5-2 1/4 to finish fifth overall. She was fourth among the collegiate competitors in the event. Hall’s mark improved her qualifying standard for the New England Division III Championships next month at USM, and met the qualifying standard for the ECAC Division III Championships in March.

Northeastern University won the team title scoring with 157 points. Dartmouth College was second with 97, followed by Wheaton College of Norton, Mass. (27), Harvard University (26), Keene State College (16) and USM (11).

Hall is a former state high jump champion at MVHS.
