The Thomaston Public Library will present a series of monthly programs called the Saturday Family Story Hour. Each month a representative from the various Thomaston boards, departments or committees will read a selection of stories to children of all ages. The community gathering will be an opportunity for families and the elected and appointed Thomaston officers to share a fun hour together.

The first program will be held Saturday, Jan. 23 from 1:30 to 2:30 in the newly renovated children’s room of the library. Nancy Carter will read some of her favorite winter stories. Carter was re-elected in 2009 to her second term on Thomaston’s Board of Selectmen. She also volunteers with the library’s mystery-book discussion group, which always welcomes new members.

Future programs are scheduled for the third Saturday of each month. The schedule includes:

• Feb. 20: Bill Hahn, chairman of the Board of Selectmen
• March 20: Kevin Haj, chief of police
• April 17: Henry Carey, chairman of the Academy Board of Trustees
• May 15: Valmore Blastow, town manager
