Firefighters from several towns worked Saturday evening to put out a fire that ignited in a garage/workshop owned by Janice Nelson on the Homestead Road, according to Fire Chief Thomas Johnston.
No one was injured in the blaze.
The garage was a total loss, but the fire did not spread to the owner’s home nearby. The fire chief said he did not know what caused the fire yet, and added that he would take a look at the site the next day.
Firefighters from Washington, Union, Somerville and Jefferson responded to the scene. Johnston said about 30 firefighters helped knock down the flames.
The Homestead Road is a one-lane, private road off Razorville Road, Johnston noted. “It’s a skating rink tonight,” he said.
