Veteran grower and tropical plant enthusiast Dennis Milliken will give a Houseplant Clinic at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at noon.

Milliken will speak on the care and feeding of houseplants, including light, watering and potting needs. He will also discuss how to identify indoor pests and provide recipes for making homemade insecticides. Participants are encouraged to come with questions about specific plants or problems.

Milliken has 40 years of experience in the gardening and nursery industry. He began his career at Merry Gardens under the tutelage of Merryspring founders Mary Ellen and Ervin Ross and is currently a nurseryman at the Green Thumb in Rockport. He is a graduate of Camden-Rockport High School and St. Francis College. He is a certified pesticide applicator and a member of the Maine Landscape and Nursery Association.

Merryspring members and all children attend talks free, and there is a charge of $5 for non-members.

Merryspring is a member-supported nonprofit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road, just off Route 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden. For more information call Merryspring at 236-2239 or visit merryspring.
