The Rockland Public Library will present a Nutrition for a Healthy Heart Workshop with nutrition counselor Holly Noonan on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Friends Community Room.

Noonan will take a look at health in the larger context: Why are some parts of the world “hot spots” for heart disease while other places are “cold spots?” Did ancestors struggle with diseases such as heart disease? If not, why not? The workshop will explore various strategies for heart health here and around the world. Noonan will discuss why diets don’t work and how to make lifestyle changes permanent. Attendees also will explore how other forms of nourishment besides food contribute to long and healthy lives.

Noonan runs a nutrition counseling business in Camden that focuses on introducing people to new and interesting nutrient-dense foods. For more information visit mindbodynutrition.net.

The free program is one in a continuing Thursday series of literary, film and cultural offerings sponsored by the Rockland Public Library and the Friends of the Rockland Public Library. For more information call 594-0310.
