Sue Ann Genthner, 68, a resident of Friendship Street, died Dec. 31, 2009, at her residence after a period of failing health.

Sue was born in Portland on June 1, 1941, a daughter of the late Fred A. and Frances Crowell Genthner. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Waldoboro High School, Class of 1959.

She was employed as an operator and secretary for Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 25 years.

Sue enjoyed reading, knitting, and painting pictures in oil and acrylic. She loved the company of her dogs.

She was predeceased by her companion, Bertha Thauilt

Sue is survived by her sister, Sally Gergely and her husband, Jim, of Waldoboro; her nephews, Jim Gergely and his girlfriend Wendy of Waldoboro and Jeffrey Gergely of Rutland, Vt.; her great-niece, Heather Gergely; her great-great niece, Brooklyn Gergely of Rutland, Vt.; many cousins; and her dog, Suzette.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held in the spring at a time and date to be announced.
