Marilyn A. Sukeforth, 76, of Washington died Jan. 4, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Rutland, Vt., on Jan. 14, 1933, the daughter of Sidney and Dorothy (Webster) Mendall. Marilyn moved to Maine at a very young age and lived in several towns. She was married to her loving husband, Ralph Sukeforth, for 57 years and together they operated the family business. She handled the book work and was always able to come up with the right answers.

Marilyn enjoyed many handcrafts, including knitting, quilting and crochet. She also enjoyed feeding and watching her birds. She loved getting the family together and cooking for them. She also loved hosting campers on the family property. She and Ralph spent several winters in Florida but had stayed in Maine for the past few. Marilyn was a woman of deep faith and had a strong relationship with God.

Mrs. Sukeforth was predeceased by her brother, Robert Mendall; her sister, Carol Mendall; and her grandson, Michael Brooks.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Sukeforth; her son, Larry Sukeforth and his wife, Wanda, of Jefferson; his daughters, Penny Little and her husband, Warren, of Nobleboro and Nancy Lake and her husband, Mark, of Augusta; her grandchildren, Jennifer Packard, Rebecca Fournier, Melissa Doody, and Matthew and Wayne Little; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Sukeforth Angels Cemetery in Washington on Friday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.
