Virginia M. Dalrymple died Dec. 21, 2009, at her winter home in Sun City Center, Fla.

She was the daughter of Frank and Claire MacFarland of Worcester, Mass. Virginia was a graduate of the Bancroft School for Girls and Wellesley College. In Worcester, she was a member of the Junior League, Wellesley College Club, Worcester Tennis Club and American Association of University Women.

In 1950 she married Dr. Eugene P. Dalrymple and they made their home in Camden.

Virginia had a lifelong interest in English literature, and reading provided her a lifetime of enjoyment. She was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Durant Society of Wellesley College, and was a major donor to the Rotary International Foundation.

For the past 30 years she enjoyed her winters in Florida and the summer at the family cottage at Marshall Point in Port Clyde. Until her health failed she enjoyed, each winter, sailing in the Caribbean and visiting countries in Latin America. She was able to enjoy 88 years in a life of love and happiness.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Dr. Bruce Dalrymple of Rendo Beach, Calif., Jeffrey and his wife, Ann, of Surry and Scott and his wife, Margaret, of Brunswick; and four lovely grandchildren.
