The Rockland Contradance Second Sunday series, which began in October, continues Jan. 10 in the first-floor dance studio of Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education, 24 Lincoln St. It is presented on the second Sunday of each month at 3:30 p.m.

The series is organized by Jim Birch and Hope Hoffman. They try to feature traditional music and dances presented in a relaxed format; in other words, the afternoon event is not what contra dancers call a “hot” dance. The musicians may do one or two older dances, such as “Chorus Jig” or “Moneymusk.”

“We try to keep the music tuneful and well-phrased, at a dancable tempo, and not too loud for conversation between parners,” said Birch.

Donations are requested at the door, $10 for adults and $15 for families with children. For more information, call Birch at 372-8657 or send him e-mail at
