Jean K. Delano, 83, died peacefully Dec. 16, 2009, at Dexter Health Care Center in Dexter.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., July 1, 1926, she was the daughter of Leona Hannis. She was educated in Philadelphia schools.

She began her family in Philadelphia and in 1957 moved to Freetown, Mass. In the mid 1960s, she moved to Thomaston to care for her aging mother-in-law and later moved to Meriden, Conn.

In Meriden, she was employed several years with the Napier Jewelry Company, retiring in 1988.

At that time she came to Rockland, and resided for several years at the Stella-Maris House, where she was a past president of the Tenants Association.

She enjoyed crocheting and playing on her computer, having purchased her first one at the age of 70. She particularly loved Siamese cats and always had one as a companion.

Mrs. Delano is survived by one son, Edwin Ecker Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Waldoboro; two daughters, Barbara Bonneau of New Bedford, Mass., and Roberta Rezendes and her husband, Robert of Owls Head; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Caring Cremation arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland. No services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, ME 04841.
