David L. Pitt Jr., 54, died unexpectedly at his home in Swanville Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. He was born in Cambridge, Mass., Oct. 28, 1955, the son of David and Mary (Geron) Pitt.

After graduating at Masconomet Regional High School in Boxford, Mass., David attended Beverly Community College in Massachusetts and Bentley College in Waltham, Mass. He worked for Verizon (now FairPoint), retiring recently after 27 years of service.

David enjoyed many adventures traveling throughout the United States and Canada. In Maine, he had many devoted friends, especially in the Belfast area. He loved to be outdoors and tend to his large garden and many fruit trees, as well as to spend time with his beloved black lab, Belle.

David was predeceased earlier this year by his loving and loved father, David L. Pitt, Sr. His survivors include his son, Stephen David Pitt, of Rockland; his mother, Mary Pitt, of Topsham; his three sisters, Leslie Russo and her husband, Philip, Ellen Barry and her husband, John, and Christine Pitt; several nieces and nephews and their families; as well as many other family and friends.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Dec. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden.
