Albert Edwin Slegona, 67, of Henderson, Nev., and Lincolnville, died suddenly Nov. 1, 2009.

He was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Camden, N.J. He attended Lincolnville Elementary School and graduated from Woodbury High School, Woodbury, N.J. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1962. His training included attending the U.S.A.F. Jet Mechanics School in Amarillo, Texas.

After leaving the military in 1966 he attended Quaker City School of Aeronautics in Philadelphia, Pa., and became a lead flight mechanic for Eastern Airlines. He later worked for both American Trans Air and Boeing Aircraft Company and retired in 2007. He was a world traveler and a master fisherman.

He is survived by his parents, Frank and Cyrene D. Slegona of Lincolnville; two sisters, Frances Rice of Broomfield, Colo., and Cyrene A. Slegona of Gorham; a nephew, Andrew Rice of Lakewood, Colo.; and a niece, Kimberly Berg of Seattle, Wash.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the United Christian Church, Lincolnville Center, ME 04850.
