Zombie Prom March 2 at Oceanside West
Thomaston — Trekkers will host a Zombie Prom Dance-a-thon for all Oceanside High School students Saturday, March 2, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Oceanside West, Valley Street. Tickets are $5, two for $7, and can be purchased at the Trekkers office on Buttermilk Lane or at the door.
There will be a live DJ, apocalypse-themed games and a zombification station where students and volunteers can have professional makeup artist Shannon Potter make them look like the undead. Potter created the special effects makeup in the movie “How to Kill a Zombie” that was filmed at the University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn College last fall.
The dance-a-thon portion of the event is an opportunity for 8th through 12th grade Trekkers to raise money through pledges in order to reduce their student program fee for their annual expedition. This is the second of three annual fundraisers that Trekkers as an organization provides to students and their families as opportunities to raise money to go towards their fee. The third fundraiser, Pedal to the Port, will be held in June.
Game prizes and Prom King and Queen awards will be given out to best costume and best zombie walk. Students are encouraged to wear or purchase used clothing. All OHS students are welcome, whether or not they participate in the dance-a-thon. To purchase a ticket to the dance or have any questions answered, contact Lis Lohmueller, Trekkers’ Program Coordinator, at email@example.com or 594-5095.
