Life in rural communities’ presents many different challenges for senior citizens that the least of which is transportation after one has stopped driving.
The Aldersgate United Methodist Church has long made a commitment to these important segments of the Mid-Coast population through its support of Coastal Trans, a subsidiary of the Methodist Conference Home (MCH).
Coastal Trans operates a customer centered program to help people with disabilities get access to the transportation they need to remain active and involved in their communities. This mobility management program is not limited to medical transportation, but can be used for a variety of purposes. The program operates in partnership with local tax programs and other private transportation providers. Participants purchase coupons at half the face value that are accepted by the private providers as payment for transportation.
Quality of life is enhanced by support of community, and seniors are among the most appreciative of the investments we make in them.
