Youthlinks offers garden, art programs
Youthlinks is partnering with Genna Cherichello for its Spring Garden Army program offered Monday afternoons, March 3 through April 7, from 3 to 5 p.m. to high school students.
Cherichello is the local Food Corps volunteer with the Knox-Lincoln Cooperative Extension serving at RSU 13 and 40. SGA offers activities such as seed starting, tool maintenance, creating and decorating garden stepping stones, cooking projects, field trips to the Good Tern Co-op, learning how to help monitor and maintain Oceanside East’s burgeoning fruit tree orchard, and helping to plan the future of the spring/summer garden programs at Youthlinks.
Youthlinks is also offering high school students a fun and creative program called Amazing Art Wednesdays, March 5 through April 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. Youthlinks has a multitude of art supplies and welcomes students to push their creative limits. Students can experiment with all materials, and books and drawing guides are on hand for those wanting more structure. Amazing Art will welcome local artist Mae Towers during one session to share her passion for painting and her use of art to raise awareness for the UnderHound Railroad, a nonprofit which helps finds homes for abandoned dogs.
Youthlinks programs are free and located at 420 Broadway in Rockland. For more information and to register, please call 594-2221.
